You don't have to feel ready. Nobody does. But somebody should ask you the right questions while you wait, and I wish somebody had asked me.
I started trying to build something more than two years ago. I already had health issues and I was already struggling to adapt. Then I kept getting sicker and I didn't know why, and everything kept changing. Then the brain tumor came on top of all of it. Through all of that, nobody asked me the questions below. So here they are. Take your time with them. Write the answers down if you can.
1. What are you waiting for? Be honest. Is it energy, money, permission, or a feeling that may never show up?
2. What am I really afraid of? Name it out loud. Fear of failing? Fear of succeeding? Both?
3. Is it fear of failure, even though I'm trying? You can be moving and still be scared. Both can be true.
4. Is it fear of success, even though I'm trying? Ask what would change in your life if this worked.
5. Who am I to share this? Keep going and ask the next one too.
6. What made me think I was qualified? Look at what you have lived through and what you already know. Write that list down.
7. What can I do today, as I am right now, in the body I have right now? Not the plan for next year. Today.
8. Who can I let help me? Accepting help is not weakness. It's how I got through recovery.
9. What do I need to rest from first? Rebuilding on empty doesn't hold.
10. If I stay stuck another year, what does that cost me?
Asking these did not make me fearless. I still ask myself some of them to this day. But a question you can name is a lot easier to deal with than a fear you can't.
Pray on it if that's your practice. Then pick one question and answer it this week.
